Is This Retina? – DPI/PPI Display Calculator

ethercycleSo, it is nice to know how close your current gear may come to Apple’s Retina™ standard.  I’ve seen a few calculators out there that give you the critical PPI, but no so much the distance you need to sit at to make it truly “Retina™.”   In comes Ethercycle to provide us one.  And yes, Apple has trademarked the retina — a part of our bodies.  Amazing!  Don’t think that their competition is far behind, or even behind at all in the “Retina™” market (although, they don’t call it that.)  In most cases the competition is producing WAY better displays… larger, sharper, more contrast, more PPI for size and typical viewing distance.   Take for example my iPad 2… Not too old, but will be obsoleted by Apple in the near future I would think.  Ohhh, yeah, iOS 7.x.x, you can’t use that on your iPad 2 anymore.  And, for my iPad 2 to be Retina™. I’d have to sit 26″ from it.  I can’t even reach that far… maybe…

Anyway… Below, you’ll find a very nice PPI/Retina Calculator to see how your devices are comparing in the PPI packed revolution we have on our hands now!
